Benefit for fellow men's league player Thursday Feb 21st 2013

Recently, a fellow men’s league hockey player in Rochester (Jeff True) had a son that was eight weeks premature. As a result of his premature birth, he endured major health complications which required him to have brain surgery at eight days old. With only a 50% chance, he survived not only the first surgery but three more thereafter. Easton (their son) is now home and doing well, but will likely have ongoing medical issues. Since they were required to stay in the hospital for ten weeks, have multiple surgeries, 24 hour monitoring by medical staff, and will have ongoing medical needs, a benefit has been put together. We have also attached the flyer with more of Easton's story and information regarding the benefit. It would be great if we could get as many people to attend as possible, so please help spread the word!

2011-12 RAHL Notes Monday Nov 5th 2012

Here are some important notes about the RAHL:

  • Game slots are 1 hour  which should be:   three – 17 minute periods and a 6 minute warm-up with one minute between periods.  The Zamboni usually gets off early so jump on ONCE THE DOORS CLOSE and grab a few extra minutes.
  • The team manager from the winning team should report the accurate score.  Click 'report score' to submit the score after the game
  • Teams will need to bring their own pucks for warm-ups.
  • The league will consist of 16  games.  The cost per team is $1,370.00.  The money is due on or before December 15, 2012.  Checks should be made payable to GRAHAM ARENA and put in an envelope and slid under my office door in the Graham Arena lobby.
  • As the team manager it is your responsibility to get this info out to your players and also do your best to explain that by the time we play our games at night the NHL scouts are fast asleep.  Please help keep your players in line and play the game for fun.  We all have to go to our day jobs the next day and we would like to show up to work with all of our teeth in place and no cuts and extra bruises.
  • All teams will be allowed 30 minutes following their game to hang out (shower and/or socialize) in the locker room.  After 30 minutes please respect the arena rules and clear out.  Our arena staff is allowed 45 minutes on the clock following the last ice to clean and clear the building.
  • Alcohol is not allowed in the Graham Arena Complex.  However, if you choose to bring in something to drink your beverages need to be out of sight of the general public and you will need to put your empty cans or bottles in a separate bag (located on all garbage cans) and do not mix beer cans with the locker room garbage.

If you have any questions or concerns please send those to me at bmontrose@rochestermn.gov or call me at 281-6189.

Fighting policy Monday Nov 5th 2012

This league is under the direction of the City Parks and Recreation Department.  If you fight you will not be allowed to play in the league.  One fight and you are done.  If you can’t keep your emotions in check and play clean hockey then you will be removed from the league.  Every player needs to get up the next day to go to work or play with their kids.  This is not the NHL.  One fight and you are done!  If your team will not remove you then your team will be done.  One fight and you are done.  Please pass this on to all players on your team.
